Edge Summer Trips

Stories From Previous EDGERS

Last summer four EDGE teams went to Hungary, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and a UK city. We teamed together with the Pioneers USA office who sent a further thirty teams to twenty-seven countries. Young people joined established Pioneers teams, learning from them what long-term mission is about and helping serve alongside the established teams. After six weeks they returned for debriefing to share their experiences and discuss how God may be leading them on.

Holly’s story

Left Quote MarkI have learnt so much from the whole experience, not only about cross-cultural mission, but about God, and about myself. God really showed me where my gifts lie and really confirmed how much God can use me. All we have to do is make ourselves available.Left Quote Mark

Naomi’s story

Left Quote MarkThe EDGE experience was phenomenal. It has given me a new perspective on missions. It was a great taster of what it would be like to go long-term and now I feel that I know more of what that would be like.Left Quote Mark

Rachael’s story

Left Quote MarkThe experience was amazing, we did so many different things. We did lots of evangelistic outreaches to the villages, radio ministries, taught in a school, preached in churches, visited an orphanage, just to name a few.

It was unforgettable, my eyes have been opened and my heart stirred for those unreached people. I would like to go back at some point, and the trip has given me a insight into the prospect of long term mission.Left Quote Mark

Calum’s story

Left Quote MarkI went on one of the Edge trips to Africa to explore God’s call on my life. Literally since the first week I became a Christian I have felt called to mission and so I went on the Edge to investigate that and see if God could use me out there.

Something clicked for me while we were out there. God was the reason we were there.

I would highly recommend people going on an Edge trip to taste and see how you can reach out to unreached people cross-culturally. I learnt a lot about myself, about God and how He could most effectively use me. I learnt that anything that I was able to do was not because of who I am and the skills I have, but because of how God who works through us.Left Quote Mark
