Summer Trip: Czech Team

Region
Europe
Ministry
Outreach | Sport | Church Planting
Duration
Short Term
Religion
Unreligious

Dates: 1 June – 10 August
Cost: £2,625 + Flights

The Czech Republic is one of the most atheistic countries in the world. The number of Bible-believing and Christ-following people is less than 1% of the population.

The Czech Republic is a first-world country and a member of the European Union. It has a stable economy and the lowest unemployment rate in the EU. Most Czechs enjoy a fairly comfortable standard of living.

The unfortunate side effect of living a relatively comfortable life is that most people are unaware of their need for God. Christianity is not on their radar. A person who genuinely believes in the God of the Bible and directs his/her life according to Biblical precepts is often viewed with disdain or even contempt.

A large part of your ministry here will be making connections with people.

Meeting and learning to trust a Christian is a significant step for most Czechs. You will be working in areas where Czechs do have needs and seek to meet them there. For example, since the Czech Republic is a member of the EU, proficiency in the English language is beneficial to Czech people.

You will be teaching English classes and tutoring Czechs. This gives the opportunity to build relationships. Also, most Czechs enjoy exercise and activity. Ministry centering on sports and outdoor activities gives you a chance to connect with unbelievers.

Czech Mission Trip Activities (subject to change)

  • Study the basics of the Czech language
  • Participate in English day camps for children and teenagers
  • Assist with a scouting-type camp for children and teenagers
  • Help with English language intensive weeks for adults
  • Connect with Czech teenagers/adults at a sports day camp
  • Gain exposure to the broader ministries of the Czech team in various regions of the country

What does a Ghana mission trip look like?

Ghana is a peaceful country. It is an oasis of peace and prosperity in the midst of chaos in other parts of Africa. Yet the enemy attempts daily to overturn this.

We are not perturbed by this evil. The Lord will build His church here.

We are being faithful in sharing the gospel. We do this by house-to-house evangelism and follow-up using discipleship Bible tools, children’s ministry, teaching (English, math, science and computer classes), soccer ministry, and village church activities to strengthen small (5-10) ministry groups and churches.

Field Activities (subject to change)

  • Teaching English, science, math and computer science
  • Visiting schools, engaging with students through song, drama and stories
  • Playing soccer with children
  • Medical ministry
  • House to house evangelism
  • Children’s ministry

Launch Teams in the Balkans are looking for new team members who are ready to explore what God has for them in the region.

Many areas are moving to the Launch Team model of welcoming new field workers to the field. Launch Team members will spend two years learning the local language and culture while exploring ministry opportunities in the area. The hope is that teams would form within the Launch Team who would then be sent together to start new ministries in other parts of the region. During the two Launch years, Launch Team members will be fully engaged in ministry activities as well as studying language and culture.

The team’s purpose statement is: Our team exists to catalyse multiplication at all levels of disciple-making and church planting activities, and to do this in cooperation with local churches. Along the way we want to raise the standard of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, while simplifying what it means to be a church. We also seek to simplify the process of being a disciple by equipping everyone with simple, reproducible skills and methods that can be easily learned and taught to others, believing that 2 Timothy 2:2 holds some clues for multiplication of disciples and leaders.

The team welcomes people with any skills or gifting, but particular opportunities in the area currently include:

  • teaching english (or another foreign language)
  • inter-religious dialogue
  • journalism
  • performing arts (music, dance)
  • sports
  • advocating for life through a local pro-life project
  • peace and reconciliation activities
  • working with youth in local churches
  • IT
  • medical

Choose Your Own Adventure: the Arabian Peninsula

The Arabian Peninsula (AP) is full of opportunities for professionals who want to live out their Christian faith cross-culturally.

The AP is a very expensive place to live and most countries place a high value on professional contribution, so anyone who is prepared to work a normal 40-hour work week on top of personal and team-based ministry time is an ideal fit for the region.

Possible job opportunities include:

  • Medical
  • Humanitarian aid / refugee work
  • Consulting
  • Business / entrepreneurship
  • Teaching / higher education
  • Sports coach
  • Marketing

It is advised that anyone seeking employment in the AP begin to learn Arabic before arrival. Although learning a language by immersion (in-country) is generally preferable, it is unlikely that a person would be able to balance full time language learning with full time employment, so a basic knowledge of Arabic would be beneficial.

Our mobilisation team would love to chat more with you about the possibilities, so if you’d like to know more, feel free to get in touch!

Will you accept the privilege of introducing Jesus to a people who have never before had the chance to hear his good news? Are you committed to living and serving together as a community, modelling a “two by two” Luke 10 kind of ministry while living an Acts 2 “all-in” kind of fellowship? Are you ready to adopt a simpler, slower lifestyle in a small town? Do you want to make a home in a place that is rich with beauty both in landscape and in culture? Do you have a spirit of adventure? A passion for social and environmental justice? Are you motivated and eager to learn? Do you like a good laugh? If your answer to all this is a resounding YES, let’s talk. 🙂

Our team is looking for teammates who are spiritually mature and growing in a relationship with God. Candidates should be humble, teachable, flexible, motivated, light-hearted, able to live and work in a pioneering environment, have a capacity for hardship, and be passionate about God and his Kingdom. We desire teammates who can contribute meaningfully to our management and consulting company. Our current business focus is promoting eco-tourism and arranging tours around our region with a client base from the international backpacking community. Such skills would include business, finance, administration, public relations, marketing, writing, photography, videography, design, customer service, networking, resource investigation, and a love and interest for people, social justice, conservation, culture, trekking, and camping. Reach Youth Using Sport in Mongolia

Use your love of sport to bring hope to young people in Mongolia.

Do you have coaching experience in football, basketball or volleyball? A long-established team in Mongolia is looking for additional coaching help for their growing gym ministry amongst Mongolian young people.  The summer in Mongolia is short, and the team have had a summer sports ministry for many years, but they have sensed the need to continue the programmes year-round, so have recently begun construction of a gym, which over time will include a meeting room, showers and toilets.

The culture of their city is rife with alcoholism and a general sense of hopelessness. Sports camps in the summer have typically combatted that lifestyle amongst the youth. However, they have seen the greatest change in their children’s friends — those Mongolian young people the family have long term relationships with. So the idea of the gym is meant to facilitate longer term, year round relationships, therefore fostering meaningful change.

The team are looking for experienced sports coaches who can help teach sports with excellence and who will engage with the young people in a meaningful way. The culture is hard, ministry is hard, and the weather is hard – very cold most of the year – but the right candidate will be willing to die to self and pour themselves out for Jesus.

If this sounds like you, please do get in touch! We’d love to share more details about the team’s vision and how you can get involved.

The candidate will need to raise personal funds to join this ministry.
