A team in the heart of the Amazon is looking for 15 new teammates. Could you be one of them?

Currently based in the town of Benjamin Constant, Brazil, this team is working with tribes and villages along the Javari and Amazon Rivers. The team operate out of the larger town along the rivers and make trips to the tribes for evangelisation, planting churches and training indigenous church leaders and missionaries. They primarily use Spanish and Portuguese for the ministry as most people in the area have a good understanding of one or both, with those they disciple as local leaders then training others in their tribal dialects.

In addition to traditional church planters, the team are looking for:

  • Accountants
  • Pilots
  • Mechanics
  • Community health workers
  • Anyone with a practical skillset

Outside the town, which has about 20,000 people, the area is very isolated. Supplies are delivered to the region by barge and occasional small planes. The team travel to the villages primarily by boat, and occasionally by plane.

If this type of work in this type of environment gets you excited, we’d love to talk with you. Get in touch with our mobilisation team today!

Not exactly what you’re looking for? Pioneers has hundreds of cross-cultural mission opportunities available — far too many to list on our website. Get in touch with our mobilisation team to find an opportunity that’s right for you.

Launch Teams in the Balkans are looking for new team members who are ready to explore what God has for them in the region.

Many areas are moving to the Launch Team model of welcoming new field workers to the field. Launch Team members will spend two years learning the local language and culture while exploring ministry opportunities in the area. The hope is that teams would form within the Launch Team who would then be sent together to start new ministries in other parts of the region. During the two Launch years, Launch Team members will be fully engaged in ministry activities as well as studying language and culture.

The team’s purpose statement is: Our team exists to catalyse multiplication at all levels of disciple-making and church planting activities, and to do this in cooperation with local churches. Along the way we want to raise the standard of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, while simplifying what it means to be a church. We also seek to simplify the process of being a disciple by equipping everyone with simple, reproducible skills and methods that can be easily learned and taught to others, believing that 2 Timothy 2:2 holds some clues for multiplication of disciples and leaders.

The team welcomes people with any skills or gifting, but particular opportunities in the area currently include:

  • teaching english (or another foreign language)
  • inter-religious dialogue
  • journalism
  • performing arts (music, dance)
  • sports
  • advocating for life through a local pro-life project
  • peace and reconciliation activities
  • working with youth in local churches
  • IT
  • medical

Do you have a passion for relating to people in everyday skills and communication?

Our team is seeking passionate people (families or singles) to provide guidance, counselling, wisdom, instruction and mentorship in basic life skills. You will teach the deaf how to manage everyday tasks to help them gain independence and self worth and help them move forward in life. You will work one on one or in small groups to help the students develop life skills such as cooking, hygiene, how to handle money, computer skills and more.

A huge part of your mentoring will be helping them see their own self worth and improve their sense that they can go from where they are to where they want to be all while being effective for Christ. You will prepare evaluations and progress reports so the students and staff can see their progress.

Plough the Hard Ground in the Balkans

Our team is doing church planting in a town in the Balkans in a secular Muslim environment.

We would love to welcome new long- and short-term team members to spread the Good News widely in this hard ground.

Who are we reaching?

We are seeking to reach the majority Albanian population in our country, of whom just 0.05% trust in Christ.

We seek to break through their mix of Islamic and secular beliefs by shining the light of the Saviour among them.

Vision

There are currently no native believers in our town.

Our vision is to raise up a locally-led church which will be able to reach out to this region, to ethnic Albanians in the Balkans and ultimately be used powerfully by God for His global purposes.

Values

We are helpless to do church planting without the work of God through His Spirit, recognising the Bible as God’s Word and our final authority. A key part of our team’s strategy is to be part of the local community. As a result, we place a high value on language learning. Team members work together closely, encouraging and supporting one another to use our individual giftings towards a common goal.

How?

All God-given skills and abilities can be used in this task; from professional qualifications to hobbies and personal interests, in order to build relationships and trust, serve the community and win a hearing for the Good News.

We have opened a community centre in our town, from which we run various activities: English classes with youth and adults, one-on-one adult English lessons, English book clubs, computer programming and robotics courses, a youth club, craft activities, Bible Studies and more.

We also run other activities outside our centre, such as teacher training (in local schools), medical teaching (at local health centres), palliative care community projects, baking, mountain biking and summer camps.

We work closely with the local church in a nearby city, sharing resources and encouraging each other in our work and spiritual growth.

There are so many ways in which this community can be served. Get in touch to find out more. We’d love to hear from you.
