What does a Ghana mission trip look like?

Ghana is a peaceful country. It is an oasis of peace and prosperity in the midst of chaos in other parts of Africa. Yet the enemy attempts daily to overturn this.

We are not perturbed by this evil. The Lord will build His church here.

We are being faithful in sharing the gospel. We do this by house-to-house evangelism and follow-up using discipleship Bible tools, children’s ministry, teaching (English, math, science and computer classes), soccer ministry, and village church activities to strengthen small (5-10) ministry groups and churches.

Field Activities (subject to change)

  • Teaching English, science, math and computer science
  • Visiting schools, engaging with students through song, drama and stories
  • Playing soccer with children
  • Medical ministry
  • House to house evangelism
  • Children’s ministry
  • Strengthening and encouraging village churches

The missionary will need to raise funds to join this ministry

A team in the heart of the Amazon is looking for 15 new teammates. Could you be one of them?

Currently based in the town of Benjamin Constant, Brazil, this team is working with tribes and villages along the Javari and Amazon Rivers. The team operate out of the larger town along the rivers and make trips to the tribes for evangelisation, planting churches and training indigenous church leaders and missionaries. They primarily use Spanish and Portuguese for the ministry as most people in the area have a good understanding of one or both, with those they disciple as local leaders then training others in their tribal dialects.

In addition to traditional church planters, the team are looking for:

  • Accountants
  • Pilots
  • Mechanics
  • Community health workers
  • Anyone with a practical skillset

Outside the town, which has about 20,000 people, the area is very isolated. Supplies are delivered to the region by barge and occasional small planes. The team travel to the villages primarily by boat, and occasionally by plane.

If this type of work in this type of environment gets you excited, we’d love to talk with you. Get in touch with our mobilisation team today!

They are eager to welcome people with other skills who might help start small agriculture-based businesses or teach basic business skills to rural people.

The team are particularly looking for people who can train adults in agriculture-based businesses, especially someone who is able to train villagers in bee keeping, which would provide an income and ward off wild elephants which pose problems to the villagers.

Prayer warriors are also very welcome. If this mission opportunity sounds like you, why not get in touch? One of our mobilisers would be happy to chat with you about this and other possibilities.

The missionary will need to raise funds to join this ministry.

The field team is currently made up of a couple who have been in the country for over 25 years, as well as their local partners.

What ministry activities will the intern be involved in?

We use the gospel to bring together several areas of Nigerian life. We work with a local theological college to train pastors and leaders for church and ministry. We have started Grace and Light ministry to get the gospel into the church with the aim of helping Christians live transformed lives and having impact in society and the nation. We run Love Language ministry (part of New Life for All), which is focussed on putting love at the centre of Christian living, especially in relating to Muslims in the challenging circumstances in our country today. Finally, Eden Creation Care Initiative is part of the A Rocha family of Christian conservation organisations, and is putting creation care on the map in our country.

One-Year Internship: Bring Your Giftings to West Africa

Region

Ministry

Duration
Mid-Term
Religion
Muslim | Tribal-Animist

Bring your unique skills and giftings to West Africa to help with church planting.

The field team’s primary interest is in seeing the Kingdom established where they are, investing in the couple of believers that are there, training them, and seeing a church established that can multiply. They are currently in the country on missionary visas and identify themselves as “Teachers of the Holy Books”.

What is the vision for the one-year internship?

  • Join the existing field team to engage the local community in relationships through your unique gifts and skills, as well as through intercessory prayer.
  • Gain practical church planting training with an experienced field team.
  • Learn language and culture while serving the community.
  • Be mentored by a more mature member of the field team.

What are the basic qualifications?

  • You must be at least 18 years old and available to spend 9-18 months on the field.
  • Single men, single women and couples are all encouraged to apply. (Because of the cultural context, younger single women will need to live with someone. Single men and older single women may live on their own.)
  • The preferred time of service is from September to August, but other timeframes will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • The team is looking for people who have the burden for intercession and have it as a priority since it under-girds all that they do as a team.
  • As there is not a job description for this internship opportunity, the intern must be willing to be self-motivated.
  • Must be willing to “get your hands dirty” and find out what mission work is really like.

Who will the intern be working alongside?

The team is made up of two families with school-aged children, an older couple and a single woman. They are a team made up of a group of people with diverse skills and a variety of specialties, but all of whom are focused on seeing a church planting movement in the people amongst whom they work. Some of the professions/skillsets represented on the team include a curriculum writer, an ordained minister, a businessman, a banker, a physician’s assistant, a nurse practitioner, and a social worker.

What ministry activities will the intern be involved in?

Interns will be involved in a variety of activities based on the skills they bring to the field with them! The field team hopes that interns will be able to open new segments of the community to them by building contacts based on their unique giftings. Interns will spend 1-2 months staying in a local home whilst learning language and culture. They will also participate in team life and will be expected to use their interests and skills as platforms for relationship building, with the end goal of making disciples and planting churches in mind. There are also opportunities for health care professionals as well as a need for a homeschool teacher for the team’s children.

The team are currently exploring various access ministries, although their main access ministry to date has been prayer. They place a huge priority on a life of worship and prayer, as individuals as well as the team as a whole. This has become an integral part of the team culture. Prayer and intercession (including prayer walking) is a primary means of access ministry in the community, to the point that people have begun coming to the team requesting prayer. Locally, they are developing the reputation of being spiritual people who pray and whose God answers their prayers.
